What's New in Triage 2.0More Software and Hardware Information CollectedTriage 2.0 collects significantly more information about a customers PC. As with Triage 1.x, the information collected is customizable via Triage Wizard. Operating SystemThe following OS items have been added or enhanced:
Complete network configuration information (Network Adapters, Drivers, Protocols, Services) is collected for all versions of Windows including Windows NT. System ResourcesThe following system resources have been added:
Display information includes current and other resolution capabilities. Network Neighborhood includes domains, machines and shares (drives and printers) that are available. If the audit is performed on a Windows NT system, security information is reported for each share. Printer information includes the driver name and the port connection which can be used to identify whether the printer is local or on the network. For each startup application and Windows startup service, the file location and the version number are returned. If available the installed application information includes the version number. In addition, the version number is now returned for loaded modules and running applications. Hardware InformationVersion 1.x collected a limited set of hardware items. Version 2.0 returns information on all the hardware that is known to Windows. Triage 2.0 has also been enhanced to collect DMA and IRQ information. RegistryIf the audit is performed on a Windows NT system, security information is also reported. Individual registry values can now be selected. FilesFor executable files (EXE), Triage returns the list of DLL dependencies along with information such as location and version number of the DLL dependency. If the audit is performed on a Windows NT system, security information is also reported. ActiveX ControlsGeneral and version information is also returned. The file no longer needs to be included in the Files list to collect this information. Information about all the COM objects in the selected OCX is also collected (Triage 1.x only collected information about the first object in the OCX). Triage WizardWildcard Support for File NamesYou can specify regular expressions (for example: *.exe) in the Files screen. Triage Client returns information on all files that match the regular expression. MacrosMacros can now be selected in addition to typing the name. A combo box is available from within the File Dialog that displays a list of available macros. When selecting a file, simply select the required macro from the combo box. Support for Netscape NavigatorTriage Wizard can also create a Package for the Web for Netscape Navigator. (Microsoft Internet Explorer was already supported in 1.x.) Digital SignaturesThe information needed to digitally sign a Package for the Web (distribution of Triage Client from your Web site) can be entered from within Triage Wizard. Triage AnalyzerTemplate SupportThe Profile/Template structure created in Triage Wizard is maintained in Triage Analyzer. In earlier versions of Triage, the template information was merged with the profile information. Triage Analyzer now shows which items are part of a template and which are part of the profile. Expand/Collapse Audit and Reference Items with a Single ClickThe display of the two reports can be synchronized, so that both reports expand and collapse together. This makes it easier to perform a side-by-side comparison of the reports. Synchronize Item ButtonA selected item can be synchronized with the equivalent item in the other report. (The same item is displayed in both reports at the same position.) Next/Previous Difference Navigation ButtonsMove to the next or previous difference using the new Next/Previous Difference buttons.
