Job Description

As a Senior Software Developer, the person is actively involved in the design, development, and maintenance of Census/Census Web, our Defect Tracking System.

Responsibilities also include internal communication with other groups such as Technical Support, QA, and Sales.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop modules in Visual Basic and Web Classes.

  • Define and maintain detailed schedules of his/her projects.

  • Ensure follow-up of projects and production of various planned deliverables within the set deadlines.

  • Take part in helping to define future enhancements as well as new products.

  • Define or take part in defining the products’ functional specifications and design documents.

  • Act as an expert resource and help his/her group members develop their applications.

  • Maintain a productive and efficient working environment for his/her team members.

  • Work with the QA team members to review and validate certain development stages.

  • Work with the Technical Support team to resolve customer reported problems.

  • Take part in the implementation of new tools and technologies.

Prerequisites:

  • Five plus years experience in software development;

  • Development experience with Visual Basic and Web technologies;

  • Experience in OOA and OOD;

  • Excellent knowledge of Windows 98 and Windows NT;

  • Degree in Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent experience;

  • Should have familiarity with related products, such as call management systems, client-server software and databases (Jet, ODBC, SQL Server, Oracle);

  • Expert in Internet technologies (HTML, Active Server Pages, Web Classes, JavaScript, VBScript);

  • Good technical skills (quick learner, good analytical and debugging skills, ability to resolve difficult technical issues);

  • Must be fluent in the English or French with demonstrated verbal and written communications skills;

  • Must be self-motivated, an independent thinker, and have initiative in learning;

  • Good people-skills (patient, articulate, assertive);

Responsibilities also include internal communication with other groups such as Technical Support, QA, and Sales.

  • Degree in Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent experience;
