Administering Census

Tools for Census Administrators

Census provides a set of tools for administering projects and Web views:

Census Admin

Census Admin is a Microsoft Windows application for administering Census projects. For example, you use Census Admin to:

  • Create projects.
  • Customize the issue fields.
  • Create users and user groups, and define group privileges (access to features and projects).
  • Define queries, sorts, and layouts.
  • Define reports.
  • Define and set up e-mail notifications.

Web View Editor

Web View Editor is a Microsoft Windows application that you use to create Web Views (HTML/ASP pages) for your Census projects. Web Views are HTML/ASP pages that provide access to Census projects through a Web browser.

Views are easy to define using the Web View Editor. Just choose a set of queries and fields that you want to expose in the view.

  • Queries determine what issues are visible to users.

  • Fields determine what issue information users can view and modify.

Census Web Admin

Census Web Admin is a Web-based administration tool. It allows you to perform administrative tasks over the Web:

  • Create users and user groups, and define group privileges (access to features and projects).
  • Add and edit users and contacts.
  • Define workflow rules.
  • Create new tabs.
  • Set up and edit choice lists.
  • Migrate databases to SQL Server and move projects to different SQL Server computers.
  • Move attachments to a different computer.
  • Enable e-mail notifications.
