What's a Web View?

Census provides Web-based views of your projects.

Each Web view is customized to meet the specific needs of a class of users. For example, customers on a beta list don't need to see all the defects in the project database, just the defects submitted by the beta list. And they don't need to see any fix information added to the defects by the developement staff. Internal development staff, on the other hand, needs access to all the defect information in the project database.

With Census, you can provide separate views for external customers and for internal development staff. Each view is accessed through the same web-based interface.

Views are easy to define using the Web View Editor. Just choose a set of queries and fields that you want to expose in the view.

• Queries determine what defects users can retrieve from the project database.
• Fields determine what information users can view and modify for each defect.
