FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
MetaQuest Software's Web-based Bug Tracking Software, Census, selected as a finalist for the 15th Annual Jolt Awards
Montreal, Quebec - 19 January 2005 - MetaQuest Software Inc. announced today that Census 6.0 has been selected as a finalist for the 15th Annual Jolt Product Excellence and Productivity Awards in the Test-Defect Tracking Tools category.
For the past 14 years, Software Development Jolt Product Excellence and Productivity Awards have been presented annually to products that have "jolted" the industry with their significance and made the task of creating software faster, easier and more efficient. Jolt cola, the fabled soft drink quaffed by software developers for sustenance during development project marathons, sponsors the awards presentation.
Technical Editor Rosalyn Lum commented, "Each year, the competition gets tougher, with many more products contending for the Software Development Jolt and Productivity Awards. And as markets evolve, we're finding that the maturity in certain niches warrants new categories. For instance, Project Management Tools became Management Tools this year in order to include analysis and portfolio management; and the Design and Analysis Tools category was changed to Design Tools to accommodate the growing number of products in that field. This constant refinement was also extended to Testing Tools - this time, we distinguished between Automated Testing Tools and Defect Tracking Tools. It's truly an exciting year."
"We are thrilled that Census Enterprise has been nominated as a finalist in one of the most prestigious awards in the industry," said MetaQuest Vice President of Research and Development Ralph Akhras. "By staying on top of the needs of the development and the project management community, we have been able to consistently deliver high-quality enterprise tracking solutions. Being nominated for a Jolt Award confirms our leadership position in providing the latest in issue tracking tools."
Winners will be honoured at a gala ceremony on the evening of March 16, 2005 in Santa Clara, California. Winners will also be featured in the June 2005 issue of Software Development magazine.

About Census
Census is a Web-based tool for tracking and managing issues such as bugs, defects, support calls, and enhancement requests. Census provides an innovative Web-based interface that behaves like a Windows application, not like a set of static HTML pages. This makes Census easier to adopt into an issue tracking process, because there's less learning curve, and less resistance to change.
Census includes role-based workflow rules and a Web-based workflow rule editor, automatic e-mail notifications, Web-based access to Visual SourceSafe projects, and Web-based reporting powered by Crystal Reports. Census can be extensively customized through point-and-click editors, which allow you to define workflow rules, customize fields, and create custom Web views for specific groups of users. More advanced customizations, such as adding custom behaviours and branding the user interface, can be accomplished using Visual Basic, Javascript, DHTML, and CSS.
