MetaQuest Powers Up Web-based Bug Tracking Software with Improved Performance and Scalability, Simplified Setup and Configuration

—Census 6.0 Bug Tracking Software includes a new, improved 2-tier configuration ideal for organizations with large numbers of users —

Montreal, Quebec - 19 August 2004—MetaQuest Software Inc. announced today the immediate availability of a new version of its bug tracking software, Census 6.0. Version 6.0 includes numerous new features and enhancements, making Census even more scalable and adaptable for large organizations.

One of the most significant enhancements to Census 6.0 Bug Tracking Software is the ability to set up a 2-tier configuration that improves performance (because the database server is a 100% SQL Server) and allows you to support large numbers of users.

"This is something our larger customers have been asking for," says Jeff Lalonde, Vice President of Sales at MetaQuest. "They wanted a multi-tier environment that would allow them to support a large number of users. So we've given them what they wanted with Census 6.0 Bug Tracking Software."

MetaQuest also enhanced the Census database administration tools, making them Web-based so administrators can migrate and relocate databases through the Web. In addition, administrators can now also relocate file attachments to a separate file server for additional security.

Other Census 6.0 Bug Tracking Software features include field-level security, support for Windows 2003 (.NET), enhanced browser support (Sun Java 1.4, Mozilla and Mozilla Firefox on Windows, Netscape 6.2.x on Macintosh), and the inclusion of the Crystal Reports v9.0 Runtime Software (so you do not need to purchase any Crystal Reports licenses to use Census in its default configuration).

For end-users, Census 6.0 Bug Tracking Software includes new time-saving features such as the ability to specify default values for new issues, the ability to create new bug reports by duplicating existing bugs, and auto-complete for drop-down lists.

About Census Bug Tracking Software
Census is a Web-based bug tracking software that allows you to manage issues such as bugs, defects, support calls, and enhancement requests. Census provides an innovative Web-based interface that behaves like a Windows application, not like a set of static HTML pages. This makes Census easier to adopt into an issue tracking process, because there's less learning curve, and less resistance to change.

Census Bug Tracking Software includes role-based workflow rules and a Web-based workflow rule editor, automatic e-mail notifications, Web-based access to Visual SourceSafe projects, and Web-based reporting powered by Crystal Reports. Census can be extensively customized through point-and-click editors, which allow you to define workflow rules, customize fields, and create custom Web views for specific groups of users. More advanced customizations, such as adding custom behaviors and branding the user interface, can be accomplished using Visual Basic, Javascript, DHTML, and CSS.
