MetaQuest Software Expands Web-based Bug Tracking to Cover External Support

—Census 5.5 also includes a new Windows XP-style Interface on the Web—

Montreal, Quebec - 3 April 2003—MetaQuest Software Inc. announced today the immediate availability of a new version of its bug tracking solution, Census 5.5.

Census 5.5 includes new project templates for tracking customer support calls and weekly timesheets. The new Census project templates for call tracking include customizable, role-based workflow, reporting powered by Crystal Reports, and the ability to combine call tracking and defect tracking in a single database.

Census provides Web-based views of projects. Each Web view is customized to meet the specific needs of a class of users. With Census, companies can provide separate views for external customers and for internal development staff. Each view is accessed through the same web-based interface. Companies can create an unlimited set of views for various roles.

Census 5.5 also includes a streamlined, Windows XP-style interface that can be easily branded by editing a single CSS style sheet. Census gives the user a Windows experience on the Web, because Census feels and behaves like a Windows application, even though it is running in a Web browser.

Other major enhancements include improved Web-based reporting allows users to specify the search parameters used to generate reports. For example, users can now generate reports for issues submitted during any arbitrary date range.

About Census
Census is a Web-based tool for tracking and managing issues such as support calls, defects, and enhancement requests. Census provides an innovative Web-based interface that behaves like a Windows application, not like a set of static HTML pages. This makes Census easier to adopt into an issue tracking process, because there's less learning curve, and less resistance to change.

Census includes role-based workflow rules and a Web-based workflow rule editor, automatic e-mail notifications, Web-based access to Visual SourceSafe projects, and Web-based reporting powered by Crystal Reports. Census can be extensively customized through point-and-click editors, which allow you to define workflow rules, customize fields, and create custom Web views for specific groups of users. More advanced customizations, such as adding custom behaviors and branding the user interface, can be accomplished using Visual Basic, Javascript, DHTML, and CSS.
